Important IRS Information for Nonprofits
As you may know, thousands of nonprofits in North Carolina are at risk of losing their nonprofit status if they failed to file tax forms- even if the nonprofit had revenues of $25,000 or less- for three consecutive years. The deadline for filing their information has passed, but the IRS is offering a one-time special filing relief program for small charities to allow them to preserve their tax-exempt status. The deadline to take advantage of this program is October 15, 2010. For more information about this issue, please visit the IRS website. Click the "frequently asked questions” link from that page to learn more about the filing relief program and the consequences revocation of tax exempt status will have for nonprofits.
