EducationNC New nonprofit news and information service launches in North Carolina

Public Education, News

In early January 2015, a new nonprofit launched in North Carolina called EducationNC (EdNC). EdNC is a news and information service focused on public education in North Carolina. It seeks to expand educational opportunities for all children in North Carolina, increase their academic attainment, and improve the performance of the state's public schools.

EdNC is an online platform, providing data, research, news, information, and analysis about the major trends, issues, and challenges facing North Carolina schools. It also intends to surface ideas, success stories, and statistics that will inspire us all to reconsider our assumptions about education and hopes to become the state’s source of trusted information about education.

"For too long, the conversation about education has been driven by political campaigns and negative headlines," said Mebane Rash, Executive Director of EdNC. "EdNC.org is a nonpartisan source of news, information, research, data, and most importantly stories about the incredible things that are happening in public schools across our state each and every day. But EdNC.org is also a platform for a bipartisan conversation about education, and for this conversation to matter we need to include everyone – urban and rural; all ages; all races; Democrats, Republicans, Independents; those who choose traditional public schools, charter schools, private schools, and home schools. We all call this state home."
