The Trustees and staff of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation hope you will find the Annual Report to be a resource to you and your organization.

2006 Annual Report

The Foundation’s 2006 Annual Report, The Changing Face of North Carolina, focuses on immigration in North Carolina and the challenges and opportunities resulting from a more diverse population. In his introduction, Carroll Leggett notes that the state always has been a destination but that the extraordinary number of immigrants from Mexico, Central and South America has brought immigration issues to the forefront.  Dr. James H. Johnson, Jr., William Rand Kenan Professor of Management at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, takes an in depth look at the demographics and impact.  Eleven immigrants who are making significant contributions to their communities are profiled.

The Report also contains a list of grants made during the Foundation’s 2006 grant cycle and detailed information about application and grantmaking procedures. A financial report is included, as well as descriptions of three Foundation initiatives: The Nancy Susan Reynolds Awards, its sabbatical program for nonprofit executives, and the Hugh Humphrey Award.
