Vickie Pait is the executive director of Families First. The mission of Families First is to identify and help resolve issues related to domestic violence and sexual assault with people living in Columbus and Bladen counties.
Pait started working at Families First back in 1995 as the only staff person. The program developed very quickly and soon she was learning about and working within all aspects of the organization, while at the same time having to manage it. By 2003, more staff were brought onboard, and she was awarded a ZSR sabbatical. Though initially it was difficult for her to think about leaving, time away gave her the ability to step back and let others do the jobs they were hired to do rather than feel as though she had to do it all.
