Director of Communications Shaheen Towles to Leave ZSR Joining The Duke Endowment as Associate Director of Communications

Announcements

Dear Friends,

After more than 10 years, Director of Communications Shaheen Towles will be leaving the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation (ZSR) to move into the role of associate director of communications with The Duke Endowment.

Shaheen joined the team at ZSR in 2012 as its first director of communications. She was responsible for building the infrastructure of the Foundation’s external communications, developing awareness of the Foundation’s mission and core values, providing appropriate information to stakeholders and furthering the role of the Foundation as a leader on issues of importance to the state. In addition, she led the development and implementation of strategic communications plans for ZSR’s strategy areas, programs and initiatives; created content for a range of platforms, including print, video and social media; and oversaw the planning and execution of a number of small and large-scale gatherings across the state. She also took on programmatic work, serving in a program officer role to assist with grantmaking efforts for the Foundation’s Community-Based Strategy, State-Level Systemic Change Strategy and Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Strategy; led ZSR’s Community Leadership Council and worked alongside the Foundation’s Fellows to assist with ZSR’s Non-Profit Internship Program.

Shaheen’s last day with ZSR will be Thursday, August 18. If you have any questions after that, please contact Chapel Thompson at chapelt@zsr.org.

While Shaheen will be missed at ZSR, we are appreciative of her service to the Foundation and are confident that she will continue to make an impact on the philanthropic sector in North Carolina and beyond.

Sincerely,

Maurice “Mo” Green
Executive Director, Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation
