The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation offers one eight-week paid summer internship to an undergraduate or graduate student interested in philanthropy, public policy, community service and/or the nonprofit sector. The Foundation provides a stipend for the internship as well as an additional housing stipend if the student does not live within commuting distance of Winston-Salem. (Note: This is distinctly different from ZSR's Non-Profit Internship Program.)
Interns have the opportunity to assist staff in researching projects related to the long-term goals of the Foundation, particularly those that align with its current focus areas. They also have the opportunity to shadow Foundation staff, attend conferences and meetings, and/or pursue personal projects of interest.
Eligible candidates must be either currently enrolled in an accredited North Carolina undergraduate or graduate program or a North Carolina resident. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in philanthropy, public policy, community service and/or the nonprofit sector. Applicants must also demonstrate strong communication skills, personal initiative and the willingness to support Foundation staff through intensive research projects.
Interested candidates should complete the application below. Applications are due by January 8, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. (noon).
After the deadline, an initial review of the applications will be completed. After this review, a pool of finalists will be chosen and interviewed by Foundation staff. Applicants not chosen as finalists will be notified by email. Finalist interviews will take place by mid-February. Final decisions will be made shortly thereafter.
We invite you to contact Jose Oliva with any questions.
