VIDEO: Farmer Foodshare

Farmer Foodshare connects people who grow food with people who need food. It strives to make fresh, local food available to everyone in the community, and ensures the farmers growing it are making a healthy living.

The organization’s first strategy is a simple farmers’ market based approach that takes food donations from market shoppers and farmers and connects them to a local hunger relief agency. These donation stations can be found at markets across the state. Its second strategy is the POP Market, which was born out of requests from its community partners, who were seeking a more sustainable model to buy fresh local produce. The POP Market purchases food from small family farms looking for new markets and sells it to nonprofit organizations serving low-wealth communities.
