The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation offers one eight-week paid summer internship to an undergraduate or graduate student interested in philanthropy, public policy, community service and/or the nonprofit sector. The Foundation provides a stipend for the internship as well as an additional housing stipend if the student does not live within commuting distance of Winston-Salem. (Note: This is distinctly different from ZSR's Non-Profit Internship Program.)
Interns have the opportunity to assist staff in researching projects related to the long-term goals of the Foundation, particularly those that align with its five focus areas. They also have the opportunity to shadow Foundation staff, attend conferences and meetings, and/or pursue personal projects of interest.
Eligible candidates must be either currently enrolled in an accredited North Carolina undergraduate or graduate program or a North Carolina resident. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in philanthropy, public policy, community service and/or the nonprofit sector. Applicants must also demonstrate strong communication skills, personal initiative and the willingness to support Foundation staff through intensive research projects.
Interested candidates should email resumes and a completed application form to Keren Salim with the subject line: "Internship Application." Application deadlines are in early January each year.
After the deadline, an initial review of the applications will be completed. After this review, a pool of finalists will be chosen and interviewed by Foundation staff. Applicants not chosen as finalists will be notified by mail. Finalist interviews will take place by mid-February. Final decisions will be made shortly thereafter.
We invite you to contact Keren Salim with any questions.
