The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation now offers a Small Grants Process for grant requests of up to $35,000 per year for up to two years

The Foundation values the immense contributions made by small and/or grassroots organizations in North Carolina, often on very limited budgets.  In response, the Foundation hopes to accomplish several important objectives with this new and streamlined process:

• Ensure that nonprofits receiving relatively smaller grants do not expend disproportionate effort and resources applying for a grant relative to the funding that they receive
• Enable organizations to devote a greater percentage of resources (time and money)  to programmatic work, organizational development, collaboration with other nonprofits, and more productive interactions with the Foundation

Note:  Grants for more than $35,000 per year are now referred to as “strategic grants” in order to distinguish those efforts from the small grant process.

Small Grant applicants are subject to all eligibility requirements of strategic grant applicants.  The Foundation funds charitable, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organizations and government entities for programs and projects that serve the people of North Carolina and address the results sought within five current focus areas.
