Barbara Gorham

Barbara B. Gorham, a natural-born optimist, believes that in the end peace will prevail. A proud native of a small city nestled in the southern roots of eastern North Carolina, she fondly calls her beloved birthplace, Whitakers, North Carolina, home.

Prior to joining the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation in October 2023, Barbara’s professional career track began as a selected member of the Pitt County Memorial Hospital’s Management Training Program in Greenville, NC. During rotations in this program, she was afforded the opportunity to experience each department of the hospital, which proved life-changing as she gained enormous respect and appreciation for rural healthcare.

Graduating from Northern Nash High School in Rocky Mount, NC, and East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, with a Bachelor’s in Business Education, with concentrated focus in Information Processing, prepared Barbara for her role as Compensation Analyst with Sara Lee Hosiery, as well as Director of Human Resources & Data Management with the St. Peter’s World Outreach Center, both located in Winston-Salem, NC. During her many years of experience in nonprofit work, Barbara has served in many capacities within the Human Resources and Information Technology field.

Barbara currently resides in Kernersville, NC, and enjoys spending time with her spouse, three amazing adult children and bonus grand-dog Benji. Endeavoring every day to make an impactful difference in life!
