Natalie Blake joined the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation in July 2012 and is the program officer who co-leads the Foundation’s Community-Based Strategy and oversees the Advancing Public Education priority area within ZSR’s Statewide Systemic Change Strategy. Through her role at ZSR, Natalie strives to support connections between people, places, organizations and sectors who are working to impact the communities in which they live. She also works with public education grantees who seek to build public will to support public education, address educational equity, and improve NC’s systems of early childhood and K-12 public education. Prior to joining ZSR’s staff, Natalie was a Teach for America corps member where she taught ninth grade World History, while also earning a master’s degree in Education and Social Change at the University of Miami. Natalie previously worked as an operations manager for Citizen Schools, NC – an educational nonprofit organization that serves middle school students in under-resourced communities. She has also served on a congressional campaign and lived in Hawaii where she worked with children with learning differences, conducting behavioral research. She received her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Wake Forest University. Natalie is a native of North Carolina.
