VIDEO: Aspiring Superintendent Fellows Program

The quality of education a young person gets is grounded in what happens in a classroom and within that school. Research shows that retaining strong teachers and principals requires a big picture, holistic leader, who takes the form of a superintendent. The Aspiring Superintendent Fellows Program seeks to develop these strong leaders who aspire to be superintendents. The goal is to develop a solid pool of candidates who upon completion of the program are ready to lead school districts across North Carolina.

The Aspiring Superintendent Fellows Program is a two-year leadership development program. The focus is not on specific technical skills as much as it is on having individuals look deeply into themselves and understand who they are as leaders, what their strengths and deficits are, and how to enhance what they bring to the table for school boards.
